Faculty speaks

"I love working in a Montessori school because I am given the extraordinary opportunity and privilege of watching a child unfold like a flower and become a confident, self-assured human being with unlimited potential."

- Stephanie

"A Montessori classroom caters to the different ways of learning. Each day is an opportunity for creative experience, and it is delightful to witness what comes forth.

The children get an early start learning how to make decisions for themselves. Their confidence blooms and they take great pride in their work. The enthusiasm is contagious. The older children feel proud to be 'teachers' of the younger ones, and they all learn to be thoughtful of each other. The classroom is a 'home away from home' and we are a family. Such a lovely atmosphere in which a teacher spends her days. You cannot ask for much more than that!"

- Suzanne

Parents talk

"When I explain the Parent-Child Program to other parents, I get emotional every time. It's a phenomenal experience for both child and parent. ...I feel they (the Directresses) have prepared me for any challenge I may face in the coming years with my child. They taught me how to better respect and empathize with my son, helping me to see the world through his eyes.

- Nancy

The purposeful intent, the elegance and peace with which my son works is quite beautiful. I have read every single thing published about or by Maria Montessori, but the magic of her philosophy must be seen live. ...the genius of Montessori lies in what is raw and perfect in every child. And the work, the works, being in a Montessori environment, connects the child, where she is, to the world she will own.

Children chat

"At the other school you play and at RKMS you get to do hard works. I like to do maps and I like building the maze with the red rods."

- Preston

"I will always remember my teachers and all of my friends. My favorite work was the insets because they are sort of a picture."

- Tanya

"I like RKMS because I get to play with my friends a lot. My favorite works are multiplication and reading. I have great friends. I am really lucky to be at this school."

- Liam

Alumni remember

"This fall, after 33 years, my parents moved. As you can imagine, old, dusty boxes of long forgotten items... were found among the usual debris. (An old RKMS project of mine) recalled many happy times and reinforced my faith in the unique experience that is Ronald Knox. Not surprisingly, while I was still pregnant with my first child, my husband and I submitted her for enrollment. First as a toddler and now as a regular in the "big" school, she is happily immersed in the Wonderland of Montessori. In the meantime, we continue to observe her growth and look forward to the day when our second child joins her sister in this incomparable experience. God bless Ronald Knox from a grateful alumna of '78."

- Heidi

"The lessons I learned early on as a RKMS student have been instrumental in my law practice as well as my personal life. RKMS provided me with a unique method of thinking which has been useful in problem solving, establishing and preserving relationships, communicating with others, and evaluating situations. It is very gratifying to see my children experience the same tutelage. I look forward to seeing the manifestation of the RKMS experience in their future accomplishments. To me, RKMS is the only and, obvious choice."

Famous Montessori graduates reflect

"...studying was something as marvelous as the joy of being alive. I learned to appreciate my sense of smell, whose power of nostalgic evocation is overwhelming. And taste, which I refined to the point where I have had drinks that taste of window, old bread that tastes of trunk, infusions that taste of Mass... I do not believe there is a method better than the Montessorian for making children sensitive to the beauties of the world and awakening their curiosity regarding the secrets of life."

- Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Author. From his autobiography, "Living To Tell The Tale"

"And what was nice about it and I think the tie-in to my current work is we had a fair amount of freedom to study whatever we liked. It was Montessori influenced philosophy of education. And so I spent many, many hours just pouring over the World Book Encyclopedia."

A further testament to the value of a Montessori education:

During the month of December 2004, Barbara Walters had an ABC-TV Special entitled "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2004". Larry Page and Sergey Brin, founders of the popular Internet search engine Google.com, were interviewed during this show. They credited their years as Montessori students as a major factor behind their success. Having been friends since childhood, when Barbara Walters asked if the fact that their parents were college professors was a factor behind their success, they said no; it was their attendance at Montessori school where they learned to be self-directed and self-starters. They stated that the Montessori concept allowed them to learn to think for themselves and gave them the freedom to pursue their own interests.
