It is our policy to follow the child as he or she grows. RKMS applicants and continuing students are placed in the program that the school feels will best meet their needs based on their social, emotional and cognitive development. A child's chronological age serves as a rough proxy for developmental age, but because of the constraints of licensing agencies, insurance and the public school system, the former is the main gauge used in placement.

Special Status Applicants
Since RKMS has a rolling admissions process, applications for new students are always accepted. Once an application is received, it is dated and processed. However, priority for admissions is given to applicants applying on or before December 15, for admission in the following order: currently enrolled students, prospective students with a sibling currently enrolled at RKMS, a Montessori transfer student, children of faculty/staff, and legacies.

The deadline for special status is December 15. All qualifying special status applications will be processed in the order they are received.

Special status will be granted in the following order:

  • Currently enrolled students who are filtering into another RKMS program (i.e. Toddler to Early Childhood).
  • Prospective students with a sibling currently enrolled at RKMS.
  • A Montessori Transfer is given priority to prospective students who attend(ed) another Montessori school.
  • Children of Faculty/Staff is granted to the children of current RKMS employees.
  • Legacy Status is granted to a child whose parent attended the entire three years of the Early Childhood program at Ronald Knox.

The administration of RKMS reserves the right to make the final determination for session and program placement.
