Classroom Observation
There is no better way to understand the nuances of the Montessori method than to observe it first-hand. We encourage all parents to share their child's classroom experience by taking advantage of our one-way windows into the classroom during the fall and sitting in on a class during the spring. Observation gives you a better understanding of the rhythm and variety of classroom events and your child's response to them. You'll see your child's development first hand and have the opportunity to note behaviors you may wish to discuss further with the classroom Directress. What's more, you'll develop a better understanding of Montessori educational practice.

Observation sessions are offered in the Fall and Winter. Please sign up in advance by scheduling an appointment through the office. Requests regarding observations on non-scheduled dates should be made through your child's Directress.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences provide an excellent opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss the child's experience at school. Both parents are encouraged to attend.

Parent-Child, Toddler and Early Childhood conferences are held twice yearly, once in the Fall and once in the Spring.

Parent Education Sessions
The school offers various opportunities throughout the year for parents to increase their understanding and appreciation of the Montessori approach to education, the philosophy used by the school, and the growth experience of children age fifteen months to six years. Parents who attend these sessions have found that they provide an excellent opportunity to better understand their child's development, to see what the child does at school, and to discover what might be done at home to enrich the child's growth experience.

"Parent's Days" for Toddler & Early Childhood Programs
Two separate days are set aside for parents and their child to attend school together. These opportunities give the children – who may not be able to clearly articulate what they do at school – a chance to share their RKMS experience with the important people in their lives. These parental visits bolster the child's pride and self-esteem while giving the father or mother a better understanding of the Montessori philosophy.
