The Toddler Program provides nurturing support to young children as they separate from the home and take their first steps toward becoming independent and self-sufficient.

However, while social adjustment to the classroom environment is necessary, it's not the only goal of our Toddler Program. Even at this very young age, children can begin to focus their curiosity, develop their concentration skills, and enhance their motivation to learn. Early establishment of these enduring qualities will help our children become confident and competent learners in their later years.

The RKMS Toddler Program helps the child:

  • gain a sense of belonging and contributing to a community which includes and is greater than his own loving family.
  • develop his or her coordination, body image and awareness, a sense of order and concentration skills.
  • cultivate large and small motor skills, enhance language skills and encourage social and emotional growth.

The classroom environment has been thoughtfully crafted with these goals in mind, and the materials are designed so that all children will find stimulating work and experience success. Most of the activities chosen for the toddler class are in the areas of practical life, sensorial and movement. The simple and familiar materials the child encounters in the classroom answer his inner need to do the tasks he has observed around his home: to care for his environment and himself.
