"What is the greatest sign of success for a teacher transformed? It is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'"

- Maria Montessori

A Directress who has completed specialized training in Montessori education and is certified by the American Montessori Society or the Association Montessori International staffs each classroom. She may have multiple Assistants depending on class size and in accordance with state guidelines.

The RKMS Directress
The teacher, or Directress, closely observes the children and facilitates their learning. It is her responsibility to determine which new materials can be introduced to a child or group of children at any given time. She functions as a resource person, role model, demonstrator, record keeper and meticulous observer of each child's behavior and growth. By earning their trust, she enables them to try new things and build self-confidence.

Here at Ronald Knox, our teachers are a dedicated group, with an average tenure of thirteen years at our school alone! Many are trained to work with children in a variety of age groups and all of them commit to ongoing training and education.

The Montessori Assistant
When an Assistant joins our school, they are involved in a year-long training program, led by their Directress. They are also required to complete an additional number of training hours each year, both on site and off.

Administration and Board of Parents
The school's administration consists of the Head of School, Program Director, and Business Manager. They report to the RKMS Board, which is comprised of ten parents or parent couples, and a representative from the Sisters of Christian Charity.
